Healthy Foods With Recipes!

Due to the recent and unexpected bad weather and my work schedule I will not get the opportunity to make a new tutorial until next weekend. I use natural lighting and lately there has not been much since days are getting dark so much faster. So, in the meantime I want to share with you some delicious new recipes I have been trying and absolutely LOVE!

The last 5 months I have been living a healthy lifestyle by eating mostly unprocessed foods and exercising regularly. My body totally agrees with me on this new lifestyle. I used to eat a lot of junk food and cheap processed meals I can easily find in the frozen section since it was quick and easy, and I did not have to spend so much time preparing my meals.

Although I do not have any weight issues, I wanted to tone up so eating healthy has given my body more energy to exercise and as a result I have lost almost 10 pounds without really trying. I wanted to share some delicious healthy meals I have made over the last couple of months. Remember, you have to nourish your body the right way by moving away from processed foods to unprocessed foods because a healthy diet is vital, and of course exercise! Mainly it is all about portions and control to keep the weight off for good, but DO NOT starve yourself because the results would only be temporary in that case.

I also want to mention that I looove cooking and trying new recipes! If I had more time to cook I would cook all day everyday, but since I work I prep my meals on my days off.

Here are some delicious recipes I found on Pinterest that inspired me, of course I substituted some ingredients and made my meals the way I preferred so I did not follow the recipes step by step, but these are the basic recipes if you like what you see. :)

Shrimp, chicken, and avocado salad. So filling and packed with protein. Recipe found here.

Chopped Thai chicken salad. Crunchy, fresh and delicious! Takes on a whole new meaning of the word 'salad.'

Hot naked spaghetti. I added my own homemade tomato sauce on top with a bit of Parmesan cheese.

This makes for a very wonderful side dish; baked seasoned asparagus with mozzarella cheese. Seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and olive oil. Whatever season you like, really.

Orange chicken and veggies with a side of white rice. You can opt for a healthier choice which is brown rice, but I like my white rice.

Beef teriyaki with a side of steamed broccoli and white rice.

Chicken teriyaki with a side of steamed broccoli and quinoa. First time trying quinoa and I loved it!

Sushiiiiiii! I was craving sushi so bad one day and luckily I found an amazing recipe and made some California rolls with eel sauce, which the sauce is not healthy but it's an exception. I am addicted to sushi to say the least. ;)

Lemon, garlic, cilantro honey salmon with baked red potatoes and steamed broccoli and green beans. The other dish was with zucchini.

Mango salsa tilapia with a side of zucchini fries. The recipe says to grill, but I baked the tilapia instead.

Of course you have to have your sweet treats from time to time. Fruit salads are the way to go, oh and chocolate. You cannot forget chocolate. Remember, portions is key!

Strawberries, bananas and pineapple fruit salad.

Chocolate covered strawberries! Yummmmm!

Eating healthy is a lifestyle change and once you have done it for awhile you do not find yourself craving bad foods as often, well at least in my experience. I am not in any way a health expert, I only do research online and this has been my personal experience that has worked for me. It is okay to treat yourself from time to time because your body deserves it. Since I cut out a lot of unprocessed foods (not all) I am more aware of what I am putting into my body which gives me a huge sense of control and accomplishment. All and all, it can be expensive, but I would rather spend more of my money on healthy foods than to spend it on future doctor visits because of health issues. If you take care of your body, your body will love you back.

Until next time, lovelies! :)

5 Minute Cheesecake

Finally! The recipe that I have teased you with and some of you have anticipated so I'm excited to share this!

Yes, it's truueee! It takes only 5 minutes to make this cheesecake recipe. I added strawberries to mine since I didn't want a plain cheesecake, but of course you can put other kind of berries or whatnot to satisfy your cravings.

This is the original recipe that I tried the first time and it didn't turn out too well for me possibly because I didn't follow the directions correctly. :P I used a whole can of condensed milk and it ended up too runny so I had to freeze the cheesecake. This second time around I found a better mixture that worked for me. Yaya!

Switch up the recipe a bit for your own liking. For me, I love revising recipes I find so I can make it my own.

So, these are the only 5 ingredients you'll need for the basic cheesecake. I added strawberries to mine so I technically have 5 ingredients. Hehe.

* 1/2 cup condensed milk (or a little less if you want it less creamy)

* 2 boxes 8 oz cream cheese (leave out an hour before so it can be softer to mix)

* 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice

* cool whip and a graham crust (or whatever crust you prefer)

PLEASE NOTE: The filling I made this time was very thin, so the ingredients above is doubled for those who want a lot of filling. If not, you can cut the ingredients in half. The photos I took was only half of the ingredients above, but I went ahead and revised it for those who want a plain cheesecake or just more filling in general. So sorry for the confusion! Haha.

These were my ingredients:

I began by prepping the strawberries and slicing them into the ready made graham crust.

Then for the cheesecake filling mix the cream cheese, condense milk, lemon or lime juice together until it is thick and creamy.

Afterwards pour the filling into the graham crust and smooth it over. Put a lid or saran wrap over the cheesecake and chill for about 2 to 3 hours. The graham crust came with a plastic covering on top so I just flipped the plastic covering over and used it as a lid. So very neat, yes. :)

Once it's nice and chilled put whip cream on top if you like. I did because I'm addicted to whip cream-- and anything sweet really. Haha.

Cut off a slice or two or three and enjooyyy! The perfect dessert when you're on a crunch for time.

This strawberry cheesecake was fast, easy and so delicious. Definitely a recipe I will be making quite often and I'll be sure to try some different fruits! Give it a try and let me know how it turns out! I hope you like this recipe as much as I do! :)
