New Hair, New Shorts!

It has been QUITE some time since I have last posted and I truly apologize. I know I have been absent for far too long, but I am SO incredibly happy to be back and I hope to keep the posts coming every couple of weeks.

I started sewing again and my does it feels magnificent! I have upcycled a few things after doing some major spring cleaning of my closet.

First though, I would like to share a life changing event that recently occurred... I finally found the courage to cut my hair ABOVE my chest! Seriously, this may seem ridiculous to some, but I have had my insanely long hair for 10+ years trimming them every couple of months of course. This time I needed something different so I figured why not?! It will grow back! I have been obsessing over medium length straight-cut hair for a long time and I finally got the guts to chop about 9 inches off my hair. Another reason was that the ombre had to go since I have had it for close to two years.

No more bangs, no more ombre, no more crazy long hair all the way down my back. It felt rejuvenating to say the least and it was exactly the change I needed. I barely have any layers because I wanted more of the same length cut. I have rocked layers for the last forever years so it was time I tried the same length hair cut which I love because my hair looks and feels much more thicker than usual.

In other news sewing-wise, I finally finished my first project of the year! It is nothing crazy out of the ordinary that you have not all seen yet, but I figured the weather is getting warmer so I need some new shorts! I found an old houndstooth top that I never wore and turned them into shorts for spring. There is no need to buy new shorts when I can upcycle from an old top. :)

It is a silk polyester type material which was pretty easy to work with in my opinion and a great, breezy fabric for shorts.

I used a black elastic for the band so there was no need for a zipper. It was super quick and easy. Prints and pattern are my favorite at the moment and I have always been a huge fan of houndstooth because of its timeless elegance. I paired the shorts with a mustard embellished neckline top to give this outfit some color.

I am truly sorry for the dirty mirror, I told you it has been awhile. Hahaha! Shorts are my spring and summer time go-to because they are easy and comfortable to wear during the unbearable heat. You can easily dress them up or be casual depending on your mood. I have made plenty of shorts in previous posts so be sure to check them out for a little inspiration!

What clothing item is a staple in your wardrobe for the spring and summer?

Until next time! :)
