Darling Alteration: High Low Purple Mini Dress

I can't get enough of the high low just about anything, especially dresses. I found this purple dress while shopping at Marshalls for $5-- I couldn't turn it down. It was nothing 'wow' worthy, but when turned into a high low mini dress it's something to take a second glance at. The dress is made out of 100% polyester which has a nice silky feel to it.

So, this is the dress I started out with. It consisted of a draped-like vest over the simple dress which wasn't very appealing to me.

I removed the draped-like vest which left me with a loose tank dress, then I started making the high low cut. As you can see the dress is laid flat sideways with the front and back symmetrical to the other side. I have made several high lows before so I got my desired length in just one cut, but if this is something you're unfamiliar with start out by cutting less and then continue to cut more and more off until you achieve your length. Remember, you can cut fabric off but you cannot put it back on.

Afterwards start hemming the bottom by folding in the edges twice.

I ironed the hem afterwards to get a bit of the wrinkles out.

That's it! Yayerrss!

It is so simple, but with a knotted brown belt, nude heels and a bronze/gold/silver statement necklace this purple high low mini dress looks phenomenal.

Statement necklace by Sonoma from Kohl's: $2.40

I'm not a huge fan of the color purple, but this dress is amazing. For $5 it was definitely worth it. Alterations are so easy and fun and takes up no time at all! I really think the high low adds a certain pizazz to dresses that lack the fashion edge. Also, I adore the simplicity which makes it so easy to dress up with accessories. Yaya!

  13. The clothing alterations done are not, an easy job. One needs to be carefully thought on, as what factors can affect the clothes fittings. Thanks.
